Massage Massage is considered to be one of the most beneficial ways of keeping the body free from stress and illness. Massage can improve circulation, bringing fresh oxygen and nutrients to the body’s cells, helps to eliminate toxins and releases muscular tension and stress. Having regular massage treatments can ease minor aches and pains and can help to prevent many common ailments and symptoms of stress such as headaches, insomnia, anxiety, repetitive strain injury and general fatigue. Aromatherapy Massage Aromatherapy massage involves the selected application of essential oils leading to an experience of harmony and wellbeing. Massage is the most common method of applying essential oils – touch being such a powerful therapy in its own right. Together the effects are powerful yet potent, giving feelings of relaxation and an increased level of energy. For the massage the oils are diluted with a carrier oil such as sweet almond, grape seed or peach kernel. The oils are chosen to suit the needs of the individual, after discussion with the therapist. Indian Head Massage Based on the ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. The aim of Indian head massage is to release stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. This therapy can also help improve flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improve blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue and aids the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products. Reflexology Reflexology involves a method of treatment using massage to reflex areas found in the feet and hands. Most commonly, the feet are used as the areas to be treated. Reflexology does not claim to be a ‘cure all’ but numerous different disorders have been successfully treated using this therapy. These disorders include such things as migraine, sinus problems, hormonal inbalances, breathing disorders, digestive problems, circulatory problems, back problems, tension and stress. Most people who have used this therapy would agree that it is also very pleasant and relaxing. Shiatsu Shiatsu is a traditional hands on Japanese healing therapy. It can help in a wide range of conditions – from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health. Shiatsu can be a deeply relaxing experience which can help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives. A Shiatsu practitioner will use a variety of techniques to improve your energy flow. These may include gentle holding, pressing with palms, thumbs, fingers, elbows, knees and feet on the meridians, and where appropriate more dynamic rotations and stretches. Shiatsu is a therapy that works on the individual as a complete being – the physical body and also on an emotional/mental level. Homeopathy Homeopathy can be used by any one of any age for most physical and emotional problems. The homeopath looks at the unique way in which you are ill, stressed or ‘out of sorts’. The remedy will be based on your unique symptoms be they physical, mental or emotional. Homeopathic remedies use minimum amounts of active ingredients and therefore act gently, have no side effects and are non-addictive. Herbalism Herbalists take a holistic approach to illness, treating the underlying cause of the disease rather than just the symptoms. Qualified medical herbalists are able to prescribe herbal remedies to be used alongside other medication and treatments. Herbal medicine can be used for a wide range of common health problems including: skin problems; digestive disorders; insomnia; stress; depression; headaches and migraines; allergies; joint disease; menopausal symptoms and other hormonal disorders.
